The Meeting of Senior Experts on Financing Information and Communication Technology Projects is organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and initially to take place in Geneva, Switzerland from 21-22 February 2018.

The meeting provides a platform for experts to exchange views based on their experiences, on challenges and opportunities for financing and implementing of ICT projects in the current socio-economic environment. There will be a number of interactive roundtable sessions composed of diverse panelists who will share their perspectives, knowledge, and experience gained from implementing ICT projects under co-financing mechanisms based on partnerships. The experts are expected to propose concrete recommendations on how to avoid duplication, attract funds for ICT projects through co-financing arrangements based on win-win outcomes.
The meeting is taking place following the successful conclusion of the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2017 (WTDC-17), which took place in Buenos Aires Argentina, from 9 to 20 October 2017, and which adopted a forward-looking agenda designed to leverage information and communication technologies (ICTs) towards the achievement of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
